The course is complementary to the Internet Technology course (IT). About half of the course, as the name describes, is dedicated to web programming and the other half is dedicated to develop e-commerce applications. Namely, the first half handles a number of languages with features that specifically geared for Web development like VB Scripting and JavaScripting at client-side, and ASP/PHP at server side. The other half introduces a generic system design and functionality that can be leveraged by any e-commerce application. An ordering management system is presented as a case study, which allows customers to view products and purchase through credit cards.
On successfully completing the module, the students are expected to have gained good knowledge of:

Building interactive web-based using various types of application servers.
Building a web content management system; storing all content in a database.
Learning to evaluate, select, and implement Web applications.
