الهدف

  This course provides an introduction to the principles of computer graphics. It will address a broad range of topics. These include two dimensional computer graphics, raster operations, and imaging methods In particular, the course will consider methods for modeling 2-D and 3-D objects and efficiently generating photorealistic renderings on color raster graphics devices. The emphasis of the course will be placed on understanding how the various elements that underlie computer graphics (algebra, geometry, algorithms, optics, and photometry) interact in the design of graphics software systems.   

المحتوى النظري

   The primary goal of this course is to introduce many important algorithms that are useful for presenting data visually on a computer.  
  Distinguish the capabilities of different levels of graphics software and describe the appropriateness of each. 
 Discuss the basic transformations (Translation, rotation, scaling, and reflection) in 2-D and 3-D. 
  Discuss clipping operations on a simple 2-D image. 
  Describe the appropriateness of graphics architectures for given applications. 
  Explain the function of various input devices. 
  Discuss advantages and disadvantages of raster graphics and vector graphics. 
  Use current hardware and software for creating and displaying graphics. 
  Discuss the expanded capabilities of emerging hardware and software for creating and displaying 
  Explain the value of using colors and pseudo-colors. 
  Demonstrate the ability to create effective video and hardcopy images. 
  Discuss the differences in design criteria for hardcopy and online presentations. 
  Create simple polyhedral models by surface tessellation. 
  Construct CSG models from simple primitives, such as cubes and quadric surfaces
  Explain the operation of the Bresenham algorithm for rendering a line on a pixel-based display. 
  Explain the concept and applications of each of these techniques. 
  Describe how a graphic image has been created. 
  Describe several advanced rendering techniques. 
  Describe the techniques identified in this section. 
  Implement any of the specified graphics techniques using a primitive graphics system at the individual pixel level. 
  Explain the spleen interpolation method for producing in-between positions and orientations. 
  Describe the basic algorithms behind scalar and vector visualization. 
  Describe the impact of presentation and user interaction on exploration. 
  Describe the optical model realized by a computer graphics system to synthesize stereoscopic view. 
Determine the basic requirements on interface, hardware, and software configurations of a VR system for a specified application. .
